Jämsänjoki river and Tervaleppämetsä alder forrest

Tervaleppä alder forest is an accessible outdoor trail near the city centre of Jämsä. The length of this trail is about 450 m and it passes through a beautiful alder forest. In summer time you can see sheep along the trail!

Next to the alder forest, also on the banks of the river Jämsänjoki, is the Apteekkari herb garden. In summer time the herb garden cultivates useful plants and flowers on a community farming basis. The harvest can be smelled and tasted on the spot.

From Apteekkari herb garden you can continue your journey along the Jämsänjoki river in the direction of the city centre, where you will find the Beach Café Joki, where you can enjoy ice cream, refreshments and a beautiful river view on the terrace. There is also a fitness tour along the Jämsänjoki River, which you are free to use.

How to arrive:

You can leave your car at Talviala harbour (Talvialantie 19, Jämsä), from where you can walk to the alder forest.

The Apteekkari herb garden is located on the banks of the river Jämsänjoki at the end of Tippakuja.

The route can also be started along the river Jämsänjoki from Paunu school (Paununkatu 1, Jämsä), there is a large parking area, or from the center of Jämsä from the port of Seppola (Satamatie 3, Jämsä).
