Paddling
The waterways of Central Finland are an ideal place for kayaking enthusiasts. The crystal clear water and stunning Natural Landscapes provide the perfect setting. In the Himos-Jämsä area, you will find a wide range of excellent canoeing routes where you can enjoy the best of nature in Central Finland: sparkling waters, stunning coastlines and beautiful, deep forests wrap them up. The most famous canoeing route is Wanha Witonen, which runs from the natural beauty of Petäjävesi to the Hulkionlahti Bay in Päijänne. The route passes through wilderness areas and built cultural landscapes. In addition to the Wanha Witonen canoeing route, there are other enjoyable options for shorter canoeing trips. Rent a canoe or kayak and head to beautiful landscapes such as Isojärvi, Jämsänjoki or Päijänne. Kuorevesi, Kankarisvesi and Eväjärvi also offer great canoeing. If you wish, you can also register for a canoeing course or a guided canoeing trip.
Paddling excursions
Himos-Jämsä region paddling guides organise fun paddling excursions and courses, on which you can acquaint yourself with the waterways of Central Finland under the leadership of an expert guide. Paddling excursions are taken on the Jämsänjoki River, Lake Päijänne, in the Isojärvi National Park and on other Jämsä waterways. Spend your holiday on a guided paddling excursion in the beautiful natural surroundings of Finnish Lakeland. Canoeing excursions are available with Marjakki Oy and Kievari Rantapirtti.
Wanha Witonen
While visiting the Jämsä region, you can head out for a paddle on the marvellous Wanha Witonen route, where you’ll be able to see some of Central Finland’s most beautiful nature destinations and cultural attractions, enjoy its cosy accommodations and fine dining. You’ll pass through a variety of wilderness areas and built cultural landscapes. The route is made up of small lakes, rivers and rapids.
