The waterways of Central Finland are the ideal place for paddling enthusiasts. Crystal clear water and gorgeous natural landscapes provide the perfect setting. In the Himos-Jämsä area, you’ll find a wide variety of excellent paddling routes, along which you can take in the very best that the nature of Central Finland has to offer: sparkling waters, spectacular shorelines and the beautiful, deep forests that line them.
The most well-known paddling route in Himos-Jämsä is Wanha Witonen, which runs from the natural beauty of Petäjävesi to Hulkkionlahti bay on Lake Päijänne. You’ll pass through a variety of wilderness areas and built cultural landscapes. In addition to the Wanha Witonen paddling route, there are also other enjoyable alternatives for shorter paddling excursions. Rent a canoe or kayak and head into the picturesque landscapes, such as on Lake Isojärvi, Jämsänjoki River or Lake Päijänne. Lake Kuorevesi, Kankarisvesi and Evajärvi also offer outstanding paddling. If desired, you can also sign up for a paddling course or guided paddling excursion.
While visiting the Jämsä region, you can head out for a paddle on the marvellous Wanha Witonen route, where you’ll be able to see some of Central Finland’s most beautiful nature destinations and cultural attractions, enjoy its cosy accommodations and fine dining.
